Fan-Cast: Percy Jackson and the Sea of Monsters

Here’s the fan-cast for Book 2 in the Percy Jackson and the Olympians series! Again, this’ll only feature characters that appear in the novel. Any characters introduced in future novels will appear in those fan-casts…

**Let me know your fan-cast picks before I create them!**

You can check out the first fan-cast here. I go into depth about why I’m doing this but essentially I’d like to see the series rebooted and made more accurate. With Disney buying out 20th Century Fox, I wouldn’t deem it unlikely…

You shall sail the iron ship with warriors of bone,

You shall find what you seek and make it your own,

But despair for your life entombed within stone,

And fail without friends, to fly home alone.

CAMP HALF-BLOOD…

Percy Jackson

Percy Jackson

Asa B, Asher A, Cameron B, Dakota G, Dylan Sc, Dylan Sp, Emjay A, Finn W, Isaac HW, Jack DG, Levi M, Michael C, Noah S, Rhys MB, Ty S, Zachary G.

I’m putting the age range between how old Percy is in the book to about 20, in case Disney decides to do the same as Fox and age the main characters up.

Annabeth Chase

Annabeth Chase

Angourie R, Annalise B, Brighton S, Chloe M, Elle F, Emily C, Georgie H, Kiernan S, Mackenzie F, Madison P, Odeya R, Peyton L, Raffey C, Rowan B, Sophie N, Willow S.

I think Alexandra did fine as Annabeth in the films but I still do think she was too old for the role. It was pretty clear she was older than Logan/Percy. So hopefully this time, they’re more faithful to her book age (although I wouldn’t be surprised if they aged her and others up a couple years).

Grover Underwood

Grover Underwood

Alex L, Booboo S, Finn W, Fionn W, Gabriel B, Jack DG, Jake TA, Joshua R, Kodi SM, Levi M, Lewis M, Max C, Rhys MB, Sam S, Timothee C, Ty S.

I didn’t like the character approach of Grover in the films as I felt the attitude was different than how he was described. But he was funny. Hopefully this time around, they can keep that humor but also the actor acts how Grover is like in the series.

Tyson

TBA

I actually didn’t mind Douglas Smith as Tyson, but the characterization was a bit off from the books. But that may be just because it wouldn’t translate well on-screen…

Luke Castellan

Luke Castellan

Ansel E, Blake J, Callan M, Cameron M, Charles V, Charles P, Charlie R, Colin F, Douglas B, Gregg S, Harry S, Logan S, Nick R, Sterling B, Tom H, William U.

Out of the previous adaptation’s casting, I think I liked Luke’s the best. But I didn’t like how they went about Luke’s big reveal. The big sky battle was a bit over the top, particularly given their ages in the book and how Percy is just learning how powerful he can be.

Clarisse LaRue

Clarisse La Rue

Adele E, Annalise B, Daisy R, Daveigh C, Devery J, Eva P, Gaia W, Haley R, Isabelle F, Katie S, Madi DLG, Maika M, Rose W, Sophie N, Zendaya C, Zoey D.

The brash daughter of Ares was sadly missing in the first film (although appears in the sequel). Whoever portrays her will probably be older than the main trio based on how she’s described in the books. Hopefully this time, we meet her in the first film and not the sequel.

Thalia Grace

Thalia Grace

Amandla S, Annalise B, Ariel W, Bailee M, Dafne K, Emily C, Mackenzie F, Madison P, Millie BB, Raffey C, Sophia L, Talitha B.

I thought SoM did a great job introducing Thalia, with the backstory of Annabeth and then the ending scene. Although the rest of the movie suffered from some inaccuracies and departures from the novel, this part of the film I actually thought was done well.

Chiron

Chiron fc

Billy C, Chiwetel E, Colin F, Damian L, Jason I, Jay A, Joaquin P, Joel E, Jon H, Mark R, Marton C, Patrick W, Piers B, Rufus S, Timothy O, Viggo M.

I didn’t mind Piers as Chiron and was disappointed they recast him in the sequel. Whoever they cast for a potential remake, however, is still faithful to the books.

Tantalus

TBA

Dionysus

Dionysus fc

Benedict C, Billy C, Bradley C, Daniel G, Hugh D, Javier B, Joaquin P, Kit H, Leonardo D, Mark R, Martin F, Michael F, Paul R, Pedro P, Stanley T, Wes B.

Stanley Tucci was great in the second film as Mr D but he was missing in the first film, which is odd since he’s the camp director. Anyways, I thought Tucci was great as Mr D so I added him on here in case they decide to use previous films’ actors…

OTHERS

Polyphemus

Ron Perlman provided the voice to a CG Polyphemus in the Sea of Monsters film. I wouldn’t be surprised if they did the same thing again (with whatever actor) so for now I won’t be creating a fan-cast for him.

Circe

Circe

Adelaide K, Alicia V, Ania B, Anna C, Ashley G, Astrid BF, Camilla B, Emilia C, Eva G, Gemma A, Irina S, Keira K, Lisa LK, Natalie D, Olga K, Rooney M.

One character that was missing in the live-action adaptation of Sea of Monsters was Circe. Although not a significant part of the book, it is still part of their adventure that was sadly missed out on. I don’t totally find it necessary, but I’d at least like to see them journey through the ocean where the sirens are…

THE OLYMPIANS…

Little of the Olympians actually appear in this novel (just simple voice-overs)…

Hermes

Hermes

Aidan T, Bradley C, David G, Eddie R, Eric B, Ewan M, Gabriel M, James M, Jonathan RM, Matt B, Matthew M, Milo V, Patrick W, Orlando B, Ryan G, Sam C.

Hermes is one of the primary gods that appears in the second PJ book and made an appearance in the films (despite the actor changes). Although Fillion was great, I decided to come up with other ideas for the god.

Athena

Athena makes a very small appearance in this book.

A half-blood of the eldest gods

Shall reach sixteen against all odds

And see the world in endless sleep

The hero’s soul, cursed blade shall reap

A single choice shall end his days

Olympus to preserve or raze

Other characters featured that won’t be fan-cast due to little appearance or likeliness to be cast with unknowns…Laestrygonians, Gray Sisters, Silena Beauregard, Chris Rodriguez, Charybdis, Scylla, Sirens, Tempest, Manticore, Kronos…
